SURLY 10/12 ADAPTOR WASHERS NOW IN STOCK!

Choice.  Choice is a great thing, but it can be a burden.  I know the fridge door stays open just a bit longer when there's a few types of beer in there as opposed to just one.  The choice takes me a bit of time, especially when I haven't tried all the types in there.  But with the small burden of choice and informing oneself usually comes the sweet, sweet reward of a golden oldie or something new and tasty.

When we released the Wednesday, we explained that the frame was designed to work with 177mm thru-axle hubs and that we designed some adaptor washers that would allow you to run 170mm QR/bolt-on hubs if that was your thing.  We showed you computer renderings of the washers and explained to you how they worked with our newest dropouts and promised they would be released soon.

That time is now!  Both 5mm QR and 10mm bolt-on versions are in-stock at the mothership and available now from your local bike shop.

These washers allow you to run a 5mm QR or 10mm bolt-on hub in any Surly frame that sports our new Wednesday or Troll thru-axle dropouts:

  • Wednesday frames work with 177mm thru-axle hubs, or 170mm QR/bolt-on hubs + appropriate adaptor washers
  • New Karate Monkey frames work with 148mm thru-axle hubs, 142mm thru axle hubs, or 135mm QR/bolt-on hubs + appropriate adaptor washers
  • New Troll frames work with 148mm thru-axle hubs, 142mm thru axle hubs, or 135mm QR/bolt-on hubs + appropriate adaptor washers

It's important to order the correct washer, because a 10mm bolted axle won't fit through the QR washer's hole, and your QR springs won't catch the face of the bolted version.  Order the right odds and endos for best results.

There are lots of reasons why you’d want to run different hubs in a new Surly Thru-Axle frame, and we’re down with all of them.  We know how hard it can be to keep up with the world sometimes.

So get your grubbies on whatever hub you can, stop by the shop and pick up washers if you need em, and get that rig built up!  Somebody's gotta get out and scare them critters off them trails.
